Amazon, Microsoft and Alphabet have all proved their financial fortitude in recent financial results, but which looks best placed to capitalise on the growth in cloud computing?
Alphabet and Microsoft’s cloud divisions were launched in 2008 and 2010 respectively, just a few years after Amazon became the first company to offer customers the ‘internet as a service’ (IAAS) via its Web Services (AWS) product. The fact that all three cloud computing platforms have been around for little over a decade makes the $38bn of combined revenues they generated in the three months to September all the more impressive.
