Microsoft wins the spoils of AI wars
The row at OpenAI, played out in real time in the full glare of the public spotlight, was more than corporate politics. If AI has a soul then last week we saw a fight over its control. Microsoft has come out the other end in an incredibly strong position, even the likes of Apple and Nvidia should be worried.
Why was Sam Altman fired from OpenAI and why were staff at the company and Microsoft so keen to have him back?
We can speculate about the reasons, but I think they relate to Altman and Microsoft’s plan to take on Apple and Nvidia. Microsoft comes out of the saga in a very strong position. I wonder whether the biggest loser will be humanity.
