Tate & Lyle: sweet news
Tate & Lyle (LON: TATE) shares jumped 5% after the firm's half-year results revealed strong sales growth in the group's ingredient business, and good progress with a $100m cost cutting plan.
Tate's Food & Beverage Solutions division which provides ingredients to cut fat, sugar and salt from products, while preserving taste and texture seems to be benefiting from demand for healthier products. Sales from this division rose by 7.9% to £478m during the half year, while adjusted operating profit climbed 16.9% to £90m, delivering an attractive 19% operating margin.
