In making a substantial acquisition, a consumer self-care company covered in our update here, is trying to become a rare UK small cap success in the notoriously difficult US market. Having failed to conquer the UK, we aren’t convinced the latest deal will bring the desired rewards to shareholders, although management is bound to do ok, whatever the outcome! Elsewhere, there has been positive noise from other companies covered here, but the latest results from a manufacturer of optical components suggest there is work to do to lift its margins.
