Housebuilder Redrow reports Boris bounce
December's decisive general election results seem likely to deliver a strong second half for Redrow. Elsewhere, our Income Boosters remain reassuringly unexciting.
Recent reports suggest the UK's housing market is in rude health following December's election results. According to property website Rightmove, the Boris bounce is real. Asking prices for new properties listed between 8 December and 11 January rose by 2.3%, "the biggest new-year price surge we have ever recorded [since 2002]".
Buyers appear to be keen to move house now that Brexit uncertainty has receded. Rightmove says that enquiries rose by 15% compared to the same period last year. The number of sales agreed was 7.4% higher than one year ago.
