Alibaba: a stock every investor should hold?
The Wall Street journal once described Alibaba Group as a marketplace, search engine and bank, all in one, however, it has evolved into even much more than that, with interests in an ever expanding variety of commercial ventures. Alibaba is the latest addition to our Ultimate Stocks portfolio.
Founded in 1999 by 18 people and led by Jack Ma (the worlds most successful ex-English teacher), Alibaba Group (US:BABA) started off as a peer-to-peer platform, operating across separate sites. There's a humbling image of the billionaire standing in an ordinary apartment in Hangzhou, where he and 17 others launched the plans for what would become the largest retail commerce business in the world.
