Hunting PLC (HTG): not the most encouraging update but management has seen it all before!

The UK listed international energy services group issued the anticipated gloomy operational update. While Preliminary Results for the year ending December 2014 are expected to be in line with previous guidance the outlook statement was, as anticipated, fairly vague. It’s time for investors to work out their own forecasts – just like the good old days!

As we have suggested previously, estimates in the oil services space, especially from the UK based analysts have been some way off the mark. In its announcement Hunting has alluded to this, stating how “equity market analyst expectations for financial performance during 2015 have not kept pace with the rapidly changing industry dynamics and as such the Company does not believe that these estimates should be relied upon as an accurate indicator of 2015 financial…
