Sports Direct International (AIM:SPD) – spot-on Mike , MPs are a joke!

So Mike Ashley, the founder and majority shareholder of Sports Direst and one of this country’s most successful retailers has criticised politicians after snubbing a formal summons to attend a grilling by MPs in Parliament over working conditions at the retailer. Mr Ashley has accused the MPs of “showboating” and engaging in a “media circus” and, given previous experiences of these sessions, we are inclined to agree with him – good on you Mike!

The alternative, suggested by Mr Ashley, which seems eminently more sensible and productive, is for MPs to visit the Group’s Shirebrook Distribution Centre and Head Office, the subject of all the concern.

As if news of Mr Ashley’s reluctance to attend a Commons select committee wasn’t enough, another subsequent interview with the Times put more pressure on the Group’s share price. In this Mr Ashley commented: “We are in trouble, we are not trading very…
