Few websites have becomes so embedded in the modern travel experience as TripAdvisor (US: TRIP). With more than 730m traveller reviews and 160m "candid" photos covering 8m attractions, this ubiquitous website allows travellers to get the inside line on hotels, restaurants and attractions without leaving home. The firm says it gets 490m unique visitors each month during busy periods. Adventurous sorts might criticise TripAdvisor for taking the surprise element out of travel.
