In May 2019, the New York Times (US: NYT) carried an interesting piece looking at the financial performance of Donald Trump's businesses in 2018. It found that many of Trump's hotels and golf courses had suffered falling revenues during the year. That could perhaps be an innocent side-effect of a subdued economy unwilling to spend much money on expensive leisure activities, but several industry analysts have suggested that the cause could be "consumers deciding to turn away from the Trump brand".
