Growing interest in Life of Field Seismic activity
Offshore magazine (http://www.offshore-mag.com) reported at the end of 2013 how the expense of frontier exploration in deeper waters and areas with little infrastructure, and the value of residual oil in existing fields, are among the drivers of seismic technology development.
The increasing acceptance and application of 4D seismic techniques in both exploration and production indicates that time-lapse 3D exploration and reservoir monitoring are coming of age as tools to de-risk drilling and to maximize the return on investment of field development.
Although the oil majors have been reluctant to spend on frontier exploration of late there is growing interest in Life of Field Seismic activity (or Permanent Reservoir Monitoring), an area in which Thalassa Holdings (AIM:THAL) has significant expertise.
