Both AIM and the Main London market have enjoyed a strong run since Brexit with some areas of the market performing exceptionally well post the Referendum. Particularly, there has been increasing interest in some microcap shares with several enjoying extraordinary gains.

What’s going on? Markets fell heavily in the two days following the announcement of the Brexit vote on 24th June but since then shares have been powering ahead - since that date the FTSE100 index has gained 11.4% and the AIM All Share Index a hefty 18.4% (up to 13 September 2016). AIM’s outperformance over the Footsie has been a feature of the markets for some time now. In 2015 the AIM Index put on 5.3% compared to a fall in Footsie of 4.9%.
